"The Dancer", 2021 20 in. x 30 in.

Watercolor paper

The inspiration behind this piece was from a photograph of a dancer in the ballet "Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2". I attempted to capture the energy and movement that the dancer was portraying.

While hiking in New Hampshire my girlfriend and I came across some interesting fungi. It's internal pattern served as the design for these cuts.

Much of my artwork involves some sort of geometry This pentagon spiral was designed by fitting smaller pentagon shapes inside each other and turning them until the edges met the sides.

The idea for this design came from taking the shape the cut outs from the Rose made, resizing reassembling them. I loved how a subtle curve was starting to form by changing the angle and positioning the triangles next to each other.
